Three days before leaving, I received a message from the dean.
I asked him to contact the expert I had asked him to contact before, and it just so happened that the expert was attending a forum today. I asked him to help me check on Sabrina’s asthma.
Sabrina has always had asthma, which has been under control in recent years, but it still flares up from time to time. She was even taken to the hospital for emergency treatment in the early years.
So when I was studying abroad, I also asked my colleagues to help me collect some relevant cases.
Anyway, the years of friendship are still there, and after finishing this matter, there will be no more debts between me and them.
When Sabrina heard that I was going to take her to the hospital, she immediately changed her expression.

“There is a top expert in asthma research who happened to be in the country today. You can go and see him, just consider it as a follow–up visit…”
Before I could finish speaking, Sabrina picked up the water glass and smashed it on me.
“You talk big. Do you think it’s easy for a jobless wanderer like you to make an appointment with a top expert? All you do is brag all day long! Look at Selena, she stayed up late to help me secure an appointment with the expert before. Where were you at that time?”
She kept comparing herself to me with a “Selena” attitude, which said it all.
No matter what I did was wrong, no matter how I did it, I couldn’t compare to Selena.
When this idea emerged from the bottom of my heart, I just smiled bitterly.

After all, I was not in the family photo.
And the person who had been accompanying Freddy at the banquet was not me.
A kind person pointed to the woman not far away who was feeding Freddy desserts and asked.
Elianna, who is that woman?”
I gave a faint smile.
“Freddy’s new wife.”
The aunts around immediately perked up their ears to listen to gossip, their eyes widening, and then they huddled together to whisper to each other.
Since Freddy’s family didn’t care, why should I bother to help them cover up?
At that moment, Freddy walked onto the stage and picked up the microphone.
“I am very happy that you all could come to attend my son’s one–month celebration.”
“Before this, I had never thought about becoming a father, and I also felt that I couldn’t successfully play the role of a father.”
“When I heard the baby crying, I realized the responsibility and commitment of being a father.”
Standing beside me, my aunt shouted, “Let the child’s mother come up and say a few words! Where is the child’s mother?”
The atmosphere in the banquet hall froze for a moment.
Everyone’s gaze kept shifting back and forth between Selena and me.
The answers were already on paper, but Auntie seemed to be waiting for Freddy to admit it himself.
I met Freddy’s gaze and then slowly walked onto the stage.
In his stunned expression, the microphone was taken away from his hand.
“What are you doing? I warn you not to talk nonsense, otherwise I will not let you go.”
His eyes flashed with panic, pulling my sleeve and whispering a warning, but I still withdrew my hand without looking away.
If you haven’t done anything wrong, why would you be afraid of ghosts knocking on the door?

“The relatives present at the time also watched me and Freddy enter the marriage hall together. After marriage, I have always remembered everyone’s blessings, but you should have also seen the family portrait at the door when you came in just now.”
Upon hearing this, Freddy’s expression changed instantly.
He came towards me with a black face, trying to snatch the microphone from my hand.
