Chapter 10
I had no idea what game Reed was playing.
Nor did I want to be a pawn in whatever was happening between him and Grace. Taking things one day at a time, I quickly adjusted my emotions, and knocked on Reed’s office door precisely on schedule.
I placed a warmed bottle of milk on his desk.
“Mr. Harlow, we leave in ten minutes.”
“Olivia, there’s something I need to be honest with you about…”
“I already know about Grace’s identity, Mr. Harlow. Don’t worry, I’m not interested, and I won’t gossip.”
“I didn’t mean to deceive you. I was afraid it would put you in an awkward position.”
“It’s fine. As long as the boss is happy.”
Taking advantage of his stunned silence, I backed out of the office.
Before we reached the gala venue, neither of us spoke.
As soon as I stepped out of the car, I saw Grace emerging from a Bugatti not far
away, her eyes falling on me.
I gasped.
That car–it was the same one Noah had driven to pick me up at work.
Grace trotted over.
“Reed, why did you bring Olivia?”
“It’s fine. She’s one of us.”
“Daddy couldn’t make it today, so he sent me to represent him.
“Oh, and remember when you asked who was driving Daddy’s car?”
She waved at Noah, who had just parked.
“Olivia, isn’t it funny? Your brother works as my father’s driver.
“Don’t worry, my father is a great man.
“This is Mr. Harlow, your sister’s boss. Say hello.”
Noah awkwardly put his hands behind his back and bowed stiffly. “Good evening, Mr. Harlow.”
Reed studied Noah with interest before turning his gaze to me.

“So this is the boyfriend you mentioned?”
He suddenly seemed to forget his earlier displeasure. “Since you’re here, why don’t you join us?”
I reached out to stop him.
“My brother doesn’t like these kinds of events.”
Grace pushed my hand away.
“Come on, Olivia. It’s just for fun. Or are you afraid he’ll embarrass you?”
