Chapter 4
In that moment, desire hung thick in the air between us.
I looked away.
In front of employees, he was always impeccably dressed, never giving anyone
room for inappropriate thoughts.
Was it possible… that Grace’s flirtation had awakened something in him?
His voice pulled me back to reality.
“If it’s because of Grace, I understand. If it bothers you-”
“It’s not that,” I quickly explained. “Grace is smart. She’s perfectly capable of replacing me.”
He straightened his cuffs, stood up, and unbuttoned another button on his shirt. The faint outline of his lean, taut chest muscles peeked through. His broad
shoulders tapered dramatically to a narrow waist, enough to make anyone blush. I fanned myself with my hand.
“Spring weather is so weird–freezing yesterday, boiling today. We can discuss my situation later. You should get ready for dinner, Mr. Harlow. I’ve instructed the driver to take you directly home if you drink too much.”
He looked at me, his tone cold but his eyes holding the predatory gleam of a hunting beast.
“Don’t worry about that. Grace can take care of me if I drink too much. She’ll drive me back to my place. She might even stay the night, if I want her to. I’m more than big enough for her, trust me.”
Reed’s tone was casual, but the pink flush creeping up his ears betrayed him.
He was jealous.
Grace was eight years younger than him and never lacked admirers–fresh flowers appeared on her desk daily.
Reed might be ruthless in business, but when it came to romance, he was like a
blank page.
This jealous side of him was adorable, but the fact that it was for someone else made my heart ache.

I looked down at my toes, steadied myself, and forced a smile.
“Mr. Harlow, it’s not about the size… it’s how you use it.”
“True, but younger ones always have more stamina, don’t they?”
The words sounded familiar, but before I could place them, my phone rang.
He frowned and waved me out.
I backed toward the door, answering my brother’s call.
“You’re downstairs? I’ll be right down.”
