Chapter 5
My brother leaned against a Bugatti, his long legs crossed casually.
He looked at me over his sunglasses with a cocky expression, then blew a kiss to the group of female employees watching, causing a small commotion.
“Olivia, your brother is total eye candy!”
“Girl, where have you been hiding this snack?”
“Liv, I see why you said younger guys have more stamina!”
I smiled awkwardly.
With a jolt, I realized those were my exact words from the office banter. Had they reached Reed’s ears too?
My brother put his arm around my shoulders and ushered me into the passenger
seat.
I was both embarrassed and annoyed.
“Noah, what the hell are you playing at?”
He dropped the affected cool–guy act and gave me a serious look.
“Didn’t you tell me some creep was stalking you, and you showed him our picture claiming I was your boyfriend? I’m just making it official.”
I burst out laughing, pinching my thigh to hold back tears.
“It was just something I said in passing. Can’t believe you took it so seriously. Where’d you get the car?”
“Borrowed it from my boss. Thought I’d help you show off a little–no one will
mess with you now.”
“You little shit, when has your sister ever been messed with?”
I instinctively reached out to smack his shoulder, only to realize his shoulders were
now much higher than mine.
Four years without seeing each other, and everything from before seemed like
another lifetime.
“Mom’s anniversary is coming up in a few days. We should go together.”
“I can’t get away, sis. Can you buy flowers for me too?”
With a sudden brake, Noah jerked his chin, signaling me to get out.
