Mrs. Green demanded that I go to the hospital. At first, I refused but when I remembered that Mr harass me until she got her way, I reluctantly changed my clothes and rushed to the hospital.

By the time I arrived, Anne was being wheeled out of the operating room. The moment her eyes landed on me, they brimmed with tears. Her whole body trembled with helplessness.
Mrs. Green’s face flushed red with fury. She cursed loudly as she charged at me, but Lennox stepped in. Without saying anything, he shielded me from her wrath.
“She killed your only child, yet you still defend her!” Mrs. Green screeched. “Have you forgotten everything your brother did for you? How good he was to you?”
“Mom, this has nothing to do with her….” Lennox cut in.
“No! It’s her!” Anne cut in. Her voice trembled with righteous indignation. “She hates me for taking Lennox away from her, so she wanted to hurt me and my baby! Mom, you must stand up for me!”
Her accusation made me laugh in anger. At that very moment, I realized the woman I saw at that time was Anne.
My expression didn’t waver as I asked, voice calm and steady, “Are you sure what happened to you has anything to do with me? If you’re so certain, I’ll call the police right now.”

When Love Fades with the Wind
When I mentioned the police, Anne’s face paled instantly. Her mouth opened and closed as she struggled to say something and stammered, “No… I mean… there’s no need to make such a big deal out of this. Considering you’re almost becoming the Green family’s daughter–in–law and for Lennox’s sake. Can’t we just let this go?”
I scoffed. “No, I think it’s absolutely necessary. If I don’t call the police, who will clear my name?”
Without giving her a chance to argue, I pulled out my phone and started dialing the authorities.
Panicked, Anne struggled and tried to grab my phone, but I remained unfazed. “By the way, I saw you this afternoon. You went into a hotel with another man, didn’t you? If we call the police, I can also provide a statement about that. I’m sure the truth will come to light soon enough.”
“No! No, you can’t call the police!” she shrieked, her voice desperate and shrill.
Ignoring her protests, I reported the incident to the police. Anne’s face drained of color and turned ashen.
She must’ve thought I hadn’t noticed her that afternoon and assumed she could frame me without consequence
since no one had the time to check the truth. What she didn’t anticipate was that I’d seen everything.
With that settled, I prepared to leave.
Just as I was about to step away, the doctor who had performed my abortion emerged from the operating room.
Spotting me, she looked startled, then she voiced her concern. “You haven’t come in for a follow–up. Why haven’t you been back for your post–op checkups?”
“Post–op? What kind of operation?”
“For her abortion,” the doctor replied as she frowned in confusion. “She went home the day after the procedure. I
need to check how she is recovering.” As she said that, her gaze landed at me. It just so happens that you’re here so you can stop by for a checkup, a girl still needs to be kinder to herself.”
When Lennox and Mrs. Green heard that, their faces went ghostly pale.
Lennox stared at me, his voice trembling as he struggled to speak. “Our child… has gone?”
I didn’t answer him. Instead, I turned and followed the doctor down the hall.
I had just taken a few steps when I heard the sound of falling to the ground from behind me.
When I glanced back briefly from the corner, I saw Mrs. Green on the floor, wailing uncontrollably. Over and over,
she cried out, “My grandson is gone! My poor grandson is gone!”
After the checkup, as I stepped out of the doctor’s office, I found him waiting for me outside.
His eyes were bloodshot, his cheeks streaked with tears. He looked utterly broken as if he had cried until there was nothing left in him.
“Don’t you have anything to say to me?” His voice was hoarse, barely above a whisper.
I shook my head. “There’s nothing left for us to talk about. Let’s part ways peacefully.”
“Kelly!” he choked out, his voice cracked with desperation. “I still love you! How can you ask me to part peacefully? I never thought we’d end up like this.” There was unbearable pain and sadness in his voice.
