I yanked my hand away from him in disgust. “Sebastian, do you even hear yourself? Did you say you were repaying a debt? Did that include stealing my designs and putting someone else’s name on them? Does repaying a debt justify betraying me at every turn?“}
*Leave!” I yelled. “I don’t want to see you again. There’s no future for us.“I
Suddenly, exhaustion swept over me.
However, Sebastian refused to give up. He grabbed my shoulders, but because he was too agitated, his nails dug painfully into the flesh of my arm.2
*Please don’t be so cold to me, Carrie. Apart from the designs and jewelry, when have I ever wronged you?” he asked.}
“It’s true, I had hurt you. I was in the wrong. I’m a terrible person. Hit me, yell at me, do whatever you want, just don’t shut me out.” He then added, “Do you know how far I’ve come to find you? I just want to talk.”
There’s nothing left to say, I told him.
It was impossible to mand a broken heart. All I felt for him only hatred, nothing more, nothing less.
As I pushed him away, he tried to approach again, but before he could, a sharp slap echoed through the air.
Aileen stood there, though she looked calm, she had used all her strength to hit him.
Sebastian stared at her in a daze.
I’ve wanted to do that for a long time,” she said icily.
“If you hadn’t stolen Carrie’s designs, she would’ve been the champion of that competition. Her career would’ve soared! Instead, you trapped her in a dead–end.“2
Then she added, “You call this act of yours as love? No, Sebastian, you don’t love her. You exploited her kindness!“}
Another slap landed and it was harder than the first. Yet, Sebastian did not retaliate.
His eyes reddened as if something finally had clicked in his mind.”
Tm sorry, Carrie,” he whispered. “I ruined your future. All I wanted was for you to be happy.”
With that, he signaled his men to leave and walked away, his figure slumped in defeat./
The celebration of the studio opening continued, but I had lost the mood to celebrate. Retreating to the back, I sipped on wine in solitude. Alleen joined me. There was a glass of wine in her hand. She patted my shoulder and said, “Don’t let a worthless man make you sad. With your talent, you’ll find someone better”

That was the last time i saw Sebastian. He returned to our home country and we never contacted each other again. Though through mutual friends, heard bits and pieces about him.
