The photo in his hand was taken in their early twenties on the streets of Paris.
We had just gotten together then and he had been too shy to put his arm around my shoulder.”
But I had sensed his awkwardness and leaned my head on him anyway.
Silas brushed the dust from the image with desperate care, fingers pressing against creases that refused to smooth.>
“Aunt May is making French toast today. We have to hurry downstairs to get a good spot.“}
“Wow, your dress is so pretty. Real designer stuff really is different.“}
“Your hair clip looks nice too.“}
“These shoes are cute, right?”
Outside the door, a group of girls were chattering noisily. Silas frowned and glanced over.”
Just one look and he spotted Sue wearing a pink dress, the very one he had bought in Italy for me.}
It had been a gift to celebrate our one–month anniversary.
“Stop right there!“}
Silas burst out of the room, shouting sharply.
What he saw later made his blood run cold. The things he had given me were scattered across each: a scarf, a coat, a dress, a bag and shoes.}
One of them even wore our wedding ring.”
“Who told you to wear her clothes? Take them off!“}
“Who gave you permission to wear that ring?“D
“Take off everything that doesn’t belong to you!“}
Silas‘ gaze swept briefly over each person, yet he couldn’t hold any of their faces in his memory.
He hadn’t even bothered to remember their names.
Usually, Silas had been completely indulgent towards them, all to provoke me.
It was the first time they had seen him lose his temper like this.
The girls were so frightened that they quickly stripped off the items. Sue, inexperienced, mumbled a few protests and refused to take hers off.”
Silas‘ eyes turned red with anger. He strode forward and ripped the dress off Sue.
“You have five minutes to put everything you took from her back where it belongs!“}
Silas instructed Aunt May to watch over them while he rushed downstairs to check the security footage.}
The security personnel pulled up the surveillance footage from the past few days for Silas to review.
Silas‘ eyes immediately locked onto the figure of me running through the heavy snow that night. The trails of bright red blood behind me made him gasp.
He saw me get into Lester’s car twice. Both times, it was Lester.
“Damn it!”
“! never should’ve let that bastard come that day!“}
Silas cursed under his breath before returning to the house. As soon as he entered, he saw the women chatting idly in the living room.
Seeing them gang up on me while I stayed silent and swallowed my anger had made him feel oddly satisfied.}
But now that I was gone, he only found their chatter annoying.
“Without Juliette, I feel like these days are so boring.“>
“Usually, she’d be washing our socks right now and about to make us some snacks.“}
“You know, I actually kind of miss her!”
Silas stood outside the door, his eyes as cold as piled–up ice.
Although he tacitly agreed on weekdays,}
But when he really heard those words with his own ears, every word seemed to be tortured to death.>
They were telling him that he was the one who had driven me away.”
“Aunt May!”
“Tell them to pack their things and get out!“}
Silas‘ sudden, furious roar startled the women in the living room and they all jumped to their feet.}
They hurriedly apologized, saying they would never gossip behind his back again.
Silas would never listen to their explanations. He asked Aunt May to take people upstairs to pack their luggage.}
At this time, the brave Sue stood before Silas and stopped him.
“I’m pregnant.”
Sue touched her barely visible belly with a hint of smugness on her face.

To her surprise, the expressions of the other girls behind her changed drastically.
They hurried upstairs, packed their luggage and ran out of Gills‘ residence a few minutes later.
Sue was utterly bewildered. Wasn’t pregnancy supposed to be her trump card to control Silas?
Why were they in such a panic?!
The next second, she was roughly grabbed by Silas and thrown into a corner.
