Chapter 18
Olivia came up with that idea. The goal was to give Cameron a taste of his own medicine.
That night, Olivia told Simone, “Cameron keeps bothering you because he hasn’t realized his mistake, Mona. To make matters worse, he doesn’t think he has done anything wrong and even thinks he is right.
“In his eyes, Caleb sacrificed himself to save him, so he feels he has to help Sylvia have a kid to carry on Caleb’s legacy.
“It sounds ridiculous, and anyone with common sense can tell it’s wrong. But we can’t think like normal people when dealing with a lunatic.
“We have to think like a madman here. He probably knows cheating is wrong, but he has dressed it up with a noble reason. Everything he did was for his family, repaying a debt, and giving Caleb an heir.
“That’s why he feels like it’s okay to cheat. After doing so, he even comes back and acts like it’s nothing as he tries to win
“Our goal is to knock him off his high horse and turn the tables on him. He needs to feel
you back.
at it is like when his wife is about to have someone else’s kid. “After going through it, he’ll realize how insanely wrong he was, and he’ll finally realize that there’s no way for you two to ever reconcile.” Simone felt like Olivia made a good point. Cameron thought they could get back together because he didn’t understand how wrong it was to father a child with Sylvia.
He thought there was still hope to make things right. But in truth, it was already too late.
Later that night, Simone hired a supermodel to help her play the part. She wanted Cameron to know what it felt like to be betrayed.
Simone snorted. “If you let me have a baby with Wilbur, I’ll say yes to us getting back together, Cameron. Don’t worry. My heart will always be with you. But after the baby is born, you’ll need to help Wilbur raise the kid.
“Wilbur’s work keeps him busy, and he doesn’t have time to raise the kid. He’s single, and life is tough for him, so you should pitch in and give him a hand.
“I want you to love the kid Wilbur and I have as if it were your own. After all, Wilbur saved my life, and we owe him for that, don’t we?”
These were the exact words Cameron had said to Simone before. Right then, she was throwing them all back at him.
His expression darkened as he muttered sharply, “This isn’t funny, Mona. Quit messing around.”
She fired back, “Who said I’m joking? I’m dead serious. How come you can get Sylvia pregnant, but I can’t have a baby with Wilbur?”
Hearing that, Cameron’s face went pale with anger.
He snapped, “The situation is different. Caleb truly saved my life, but you’re just trying to get under my skin.”
She snickered. “You actually realize how sickening it is, huh? Why don’t you stop for a second and process it? How do you think the disgusting things you did with Sylvia look to me? At least, Wilbur and I aren’t family. What you did with Sylvia is just wrong.”
