Chapter 20
As Cameron spoke, he dropped to his knees in front of Simone. This time, he truly regretted his actions, but it was all too late.
She responded with indifference, “I know you love me, but your love is too shallow, Cameron. I don’t need that kind of love. Leave me alone and let me move on. If you truly care about me, please walk away and stop messing with
my
life.”
He broke down in tears. He grabbed her leg and choked out, “Is it really over for us, Mona?”
She coldly replied, “Yes.”
But Cameron still wouldn’t give up. He looked at Wilbur as if he had made up his mind. Then, he reluctantly asked, “What if I agree to your terms?” Simone froze, looking at Cameron in shock. “W–What did you just say?”
He gritted his teeth. “What if I agree to your condition to have a baby with another man? I love you, Mona. You’re the only woman I’ve ever loved in my life. I can’t live without you. No matter how slim the chance of us being together, I’m willing to fight for it.”
She was shocked by how far he was willing to go. He had agreed to such an outrageous request. It left her in a tough spot.
Simone threw out the ridiculous demand to scare Cameron away. She never wanted to have a baby with another man. She thought it would scare him off, but he actually agreed.
She tried to keep her cool. “You can’t honestly think I’m just bluffing, Cameron? I mean it. If you say yes, I’ll really have a baby with another man. “I’ll sleep with other men in front of you, and it’ll happen more than once. Even after I get pregnant, I won’t abandon my child. You’ll have to raise a child that isn’t even yours while being cheated on.”
Upon hearing Simone’s words, Cameron looked like he was in agony. Even though the pain was suffocating, he still wouldn’t let go.
With tears streaming down his face, he added, “I get it, but I can’t live without you, Mona. Seeing you with someone else would hurt me more than death, but I just can’t let go of you. Honestly, I deserve it. I don’t care how you punish me. As long as you stay with me, I’ll accept all of it.” Things had gone beyond what she expected. Now, she was left with two choices.
Wilbur’s fancy car had a dash cam, and it recorded everything. Cameron rushed up and shoved Wilbur away. Then, he broke down in tears and started holding onto Simone’s leg.
Simone could take the footage to the police, and it would be her second time reporting Cameron. With the video as evidence, they would have solid grounds to charge him with harassment.
After he was convicted, he couldn’t go near her anymore. If he did, the ankle monitor would go off, and the police would be there to arrest him.
It was a simple and bruta! way to approach it, but it would help her shake him off.
Simone could have called the police. But even with the evidence in hand, she somehow didn’t want to.
Love and hate were often two sides of the same coin: With love came just as much hate.
Simone used to love Cameron with everything. She was even willing to die for hhn, but he betrayed her.
How could that betrayal be forgotten so easily? She acted like it didn’t bother her, but how could she not resent him?
She poured all her heart and bravery into loving him. How could he betray her like that?
