Chapter 23
Simone thought Cameron had great stamina, but Wilbur really caught her off guard.
She spent the whole night with Wilbur on top of her, and he seemed to have the stamina of a machine. The longer they went on, the more he got into it, like he couldn’t get enough.
It only got worse the next few days. He had more energy than ever, and he was a quick learner too.
After their first time, he started exploring dodgy sites. He learned new moves and new techniques to impress her in bed.
Wilbur was full of surprises, and Simone couldn’t keep up. But even though she was exhausted, it still felt pretty damn good.
She got to enjoy herself like she wanted. But for Cameron, it felt like a fate worse than slow death.
He finally felt the pain she had gone through. He also realized just how outrageous and disgraceful his actions had been.
He started reflecting on what he had done. The more he thought about it, the more he realized how much of a jerk he had been.
Strictly speaking, Simone sleeping with another man wasn’t cheating at all. After all, she had already divorced Cameron. She was totally free to be with whoever she wanted.
She didn’t lie to him or betray him. But he broke her heart when she loved him and trusted him the most.
He flashed a bitter smile. “You probably felt worse back then than I do now, Mona. I totally get it now. I’m sorry for being such a jerk back then.”
Simone didn’t say a word and just quietly ate her meal. But Cameron would rather she didn’t stay so quiet. He wished she would slap him in the face, so it would ease the pain in his chest.
He added, “Please let me make it
up to you, Mona.”
As he spoke, he reached into his briefcase and pulled out a stack of documents. “These are all my assets, and I’ve decided to give them all to you.”
Hearing that, she paused slightly as she ate her stew. Then, she looked up and coldly glanced at him with a condescending look.
“Are you giving everything to me? What about Sylvia?” she asked.
Back when Sylvia had her miscarriage, Cameron had said he would give all of the Kirk family’s assets to her. Then, he would move out with Simone to start fresh.
But now, he wanted to give everything he had to Simone.
Cameron sported a wry smile. “Please don’t mock me like that, Mona. I’ve come to realize my mistake now.
“As a married couple, we’re supposed to make decisions together. I shouldn’t have made the call without you. Even though Caleb saved my life, I still can’t give away what’s ours to Sylvia without your consent.
“Besides, Caleb left behind some assets, and my parents have a lot of money too. I’m sure they’ll leave some for Sylvia. Even without my help, she’ll be fine in the future.
“You’re
my wife, so everything I own belongs to you. That’s what a real marriage is about.”
That was such a touching thing to say. Unfortunately, Cameron had realized it too late
At this point, Simone was totally over him. No matter how heartfelt his apologies were or how convincing his promises, she couldn’t bring herself to forgive him anymore.
